Black Classicisms: African American Literature and the Classical Tradition is a Rackham Interdisciplinary Workshop organized by the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies (DAAS) and the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Michigan.
This group will meet monthly during the Winter 2017 term and will discuss a series of influential texts at the intersection of African American literature and classical reception.
Participation is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. All meetings will include refreshments and we have a small budget for book purchases, to offset costs of participation. Feel free to contact the workshop organizers with any questions about the meetings and the structure of events.
