Physics 541

The course combines theory, phenomenology, and experiment. The focus is on physics beyond the Standard Model, or advanced SM. Topics, all self-contained; mainly supersymmetry including Higgs physics, dark matter and particle cosmology, with emphasis depending on anticipated developments in the field. This year dark matter and satellite experiments and the cosmological history of the universe will receive some emphasis. The broad outline of the course is: Basic derivation of the supersymmetry Lagrangian, MSSM, General supersymmetry breaking, Electroweak symmetry breaking and Higgs physics, Superpartners and colliders, Dark matter relic density and detection, Beyond weak scale effective theory.
