Sipkje Pesnichak

Sipkje Pesnichak is equally at home with an oboe, behind an organ console or teaching students of all ages the joy of music. She has earned degrees from the State University of New York at Fredonia, Fredonia, New York (Bachelor of Music in Music Education, 2008) and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan (Master of Music in Oboe Performance, 2010). Her primary teachers include Dr. Sarah Hamilton and Dr. Nancy Ambrose King (oboe), Alfred V. Fedak and Dr. Marilyn Mason (organ), Mario Falcao and Joan Holland (harp) and Dr. Steven Ball (carillon). Currently Sipkje is studying organ at Eastern Michigan University with Dr. Michael Burkhardt. She serves as Director of Music and Organist for First Presbyterian Church and as Latin Mass Schola Director for St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, both located in Jackson, MI. In addition to her duties in Jackson, Sipkje is the Sub-Dean for the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is a Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee for The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.
