Given the important regulatory role that many RNAs play in the cell, RNA molecules are attractive targets for therapeutics. However, without a detailed understanding of RNA structure, the mechanism of action is unclear. We are collaborating with both synthetic chemists as well as cancer biologists to develop biochemical approaches for experimental screening of potential small molecule inhibitors coupled with high-resolution structural studies of complexes.
