Apply

We are pleased to announce that we are accepting nominations for new LIFE fellows.

Graduate students must have candidacy and at least two, preferably three, years left in the program. Graduate students from area-based and joint programs are eligible. We are seeking students with interdisciplinary and developmental/lifespan interests.

Among its many virtues, the LIFE program provides a rare opportunity for our students to develop an international network of peer and senior colleagues, to expand their knowledge of research and scientific cultures of major European institutions.  They also gain international exposure and practice presenting their research to an interdisciplinary audience.  The program requires a two-year commitment, including attendance at four international academies and participation in the biweekly evening LIFE seminar.

The application process is simple.

Interested students should write a letter describing their research interests and outlining the reasons why they want to join the LIFE program. The letter should indicate the applicant’s year in the program (e.g., third year student as of Sept 2020) and expected date of completion (e.g., April 2023).  Interested students should also discuss the application with their advisor(s) before applying. They should arrange for their graduate advisor to submit a formal letter of nomination and support. The acceptance process will be selective. In particular, as you might assume, students need to be in good standing in their graduate program.

Faculty advisors: We urge you to nominate students you know will enjoy and get the most out of such a program.

Please feel free to contact Toni Antonucci (tca@umich.edu) if you’d like to discuss the program or for additional information.

Please send application materials to Nancy Oeffner (Oeffner@umich.edu) and copy Toni Antonucci (tca@umich.edu).
