The Modernist Studies Workshop (MSW) aims to facilitate productive, interdisciplinary interrogations of modernity. Rather than demarcating temporal boundaries of the ‘modern’ period, as has been tradition in modernist literary studies, MSW brings together faculty and graduate students to explore aesthetic, social, political, and cultural questions raised by modernist art attendant to a collection of genealogies, ranging from those generated by canonical studies to those generated by race, queer, and postcolonial studies. Furthermore, our members hail from numerous departments, enabling us to situate modernist literary studies in relation to an exciting plethora of critical discourses and methodologies.
