Our lab is equipped with ion mobility-mass spectrometry instrument in the form of Synapt G1 and G2 instrument (Waters). These are the primary instruments we use for our research purpose.
Synapt G2 and G1 both have similar instrument schematic except few differences in the IMS cell. G1 lacks the helium cell. In addition, G2 could go up to higher pressure than G1. The IMS cell is longer in G2 than G1. Lastly, G2 could operate in higher traveling wave voltage and has different repeat pattern when compared to G1. (Please refer to Giles, K., et al., Rapid Comm. Mass. Spectrom., 2011, 25 (11) for more details.)
