The Midwaste: Midwestern Wasteways and Global Futures is a cross-campus initiative to build an academic infrastructure for humanities-based teaching, research, and public engagement in waste studies. As a region where the national production, global circulation, and local accumulation of waste clash with histories of economic growth and visions for sustainable global futures, the American Midwest is an ideal location to develop such an infrastructure. Students, faculty, activists and researchers from all disciplines are invited to join the launching of the web platform, to meet one another, and to waste a little time.
