The Transnational Gender and Sexuality Studies Workshop is an interdisciplinary group that brings together faculty, scholars and graduate students who work on non-western or transnational representations of gender, sexuality, and other analytical categories. We are interested in scholarly, artistic, literary, ethnographic, political and cultural works that problematize the centering of the national as the dominant framework in the discourses of race, gender, sexuality and disability, and that work to decentralize North America and Western Europe as the loci of gender and queer theory.

Throughout the semester, we will organize guest lectures, dissertation workshops, readings groups, and film screenings. Please contact us at tgssworkshop@umich.edu if you would like to be added to the mailing list.
