A native Bostonian, Germano became a full-time cartoonist in 1948, at age 24, after serving in WWII. Among other positions, he worked as the editorial and sports cartoonist for the Brockton Enterprise from 1963-1990.

From late 1963, this is one of the earliest of his existing editorial cartoons from his time at the Enterprise, which obviously commemorates the JFK assassination on the event of his funeral, which was held on 11/25.

The archive of Germano’s work, which is held by Syracuse University, begins with one example from 1964.
