March 25, 2017: Chinese Ministry of Education Address<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Since\u00a02009, 19 top universities in China have been getting about $20M a year (each) from the Ministry of Education to develop programs to better educate the top tier university students at those schools. To us, these would look something like Honors programs, although the underlying mission is to identify and promote those who are deemed “gifted and talented.”<\/p>\n

In 2017, at the annual meeting that the Ministry convenes of these schools, I was among four foreign individuals who were asked to talk about our strategies for working with “gifted and talented” students.<\/p>\n

Every two years, Baylor University holds an international competition to identity the Robert Foster Cherry Award recipient for that biennium. In addition to a generous cash prize, the award also involves a term in residence at Baylor as a guest instructor.<\/p>\n

NOVEMBER 19, 2009:\u00a0CAse\/Carnegie US Professor of year – doctoral<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For many years, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching partnered with organizations to select and present the four annual National Professors of the Year (Doctoral, Masters, Bachelors, and Community College levels). These were highly recognized awards of long standing. As of 2016, Carnegie has put the award program on hiatus. I hope they revive it.<\/p>\n
