Summer research opportunities at the Biological Station! More details on application, deadlines, and funding on UMBS’s Research Opportunities page.
- Project CLEAR (Community and Lakes Environmental Awareness and Research) Fund Fellowship: Provides room, board and research fees and supplies for 1-2 students (graduate or undergraduate) studying aquatic ecosystems at UMBS. The Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council is participating with the project to help students with community engagement. Recipients of this funding are expected to take a UMBS class concurrent with their research. Apply by March 1st.
- Cathy Bach and Brian Hazlett Student Research Fund: Provides need-based undergraduate student research support in behavior and ecology, allowing students to conduct independent research with a faculty member while enrolled concurrently in one summer session field class at UMBS. Apply by March 1st.
- Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program: Provides stipend, room and board, travel, and research expenses. Students design, conduct, analyze, and present their own mentored research addressing some aspect of the program theme, โClimate Change in the Great Lakes Region." Students are involved with all phases of their research project, from hypothesis formulation and experimental design to data gathering, analysis, and communication of results. Application review begins February 15.
And as usual, spring and summer courses at UMBS almost always include a research component – and scholarships are available! Apply by March 15th.
