TALK TITLE: Assembling communities in a changing world: how changing climates and invading species are reshaping our ecosystems
PREVIEW:
There are a host of environmental factors that drive outcomes during community assembly, setting communities on varying trajectories. Some of these we understand fairly well, and others we often chalk up to background noise. As conditions around the world continue to change rapidly due to both climate change and the invasion of non-native species, we will increasingly see the emergence of novel communities. This drives both our need to restore communities, but also the efficacy of restoration. Here we’ll explore how environmental context shapes newly assembling communities and muddies and how we can use restoration to reshape these communities.
