Subject: Great Lakes Climate Corps – Now Hiring
The Great Lakes Climate Corps (GLCC) is hiring over 40 full-time seasonal employees to fill 10 crews for the 2022 summer field season, our largest season ever! GLCC is a program administered by the Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP), a non-profit located in Marquette, MI. GLCC crews work as a team of 4 young adults on projects primarily located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with some projects extending regionally. Crew Leaders and Members partner with Tribal, federal, state, and local professionals to accomplish high priority conservation, restoration, and recreation projects. Examples of projects include:
· Climate action · Forest management
· Pollinator plantings · Wildfire prevention
· Invasive removal · Environmental monitoring
· Data collection · Green infrastructure
· Trail construction · Cultural/historic preservation
GLCC is also hiring 4 “specialty crews” this year and 8 technicians for individual placement with Ottawa National Forest fisheries, recreation, and invasives professionals. Our specialty crews include one offering hiring preference to Tribal members and descendants, two crews building trail and working with chainsaws in the Ottawa National Forest, and another building trail and camping infrastructure for a local cancer survivor retreat center.
