Hello, camp families! Welcome to the Astronauts in Training camp session, where your camper(s) will learn all about outer space. To help you learn more about our curriculum, we have created a list of questions you can ask your camper each day.
On Monday, campers will learn the basics of outer space. Using inflatable planets, we will explore the order of the planets and create our own planet flip book (younger campers) or solar system on a string (older campers). To test our space knowledge, campers will compete in a solar system escape room. Finally, we will learn about the possibilities of life on other planets through a demo.

On Tuesday, we will begin training like an astronaut. Campers will create a flag for their planet and pack their bags to head to space. We will also have the chance to complete astronaut training and learn how to move and work in space. For our craft, we will create astronaut helmets.

On Wednesday, we will dive deeper into the planets in our solar system. Campers will build their own Mars helicopter before competing in rover races. We will explore soil from a “mystery planet” and then head to the planetarium for a star talk.

On Thursday, we will prepare for take-off and build our rockets. Campers will complete an Out of this World Adventure and create a moon model. Today, younger campers will watch the Larry Cat planetarium show and older campers will watch a show about the Sun, Earth, and moon.

On Friday, campers will complete their astronaut training and head to outer space! Before our rocket launch at Palmer Field, we will create our own mission insignia and use our engineering skills to complete one final test of our rocket creation skills.
