Collaboratory Members Share Perspectives on COVID-19

With no access to our physical space, members of Humanities Collaboratory grant teams have demonstrated remarkable adaptability during challenging times. We are proud to highlight the achievements of teams and individuals who bring their dedication, intellect, and compassion to bear on these new, unfolding circumstances of the COVID-19 spread.

William D. Lopez, a member of the Documenting Criminalization and Confinement project grant team, wrote us to describe how students have led the way with their commitment to their work: “I continue to be inspired by the students of our lab, who wanted to meet as we normally do despite our country (and world) changing drastically overnight. We gathered, we broke digital bread, we checked in, and we made sure everyone on our team had the right work to do, balancing financial need, emotional energy, and extreme changes to availability. We are all staying healthy, but health equity work must go on.”

If you are on a Collaboratory team and you nave a story to share about your response to COVID-19, please reach out to us at collaboratory@umich.edu.
