Ricky Punzalan, associate professor of information, and Deirdre de la Cruz, associate professor of history and Asian languages and cultures, are co-principal investigators of the ReConnect/Recollect project.

Associate Professor of Information at the School of Information Ricky Punzalan will serve a six-year term on the Board of Trustees of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Punzalan is currently the Year 2 PI and co-director of ReConnect/ReCollect: Reparative Connections to Philippine Collections at the University of Michigan, funded by a Humanities Collaboratory Project Grant awarded in 2021. His research and teaching focuses on community archives and digital curation.

“It’s an honor to be appointed,” says Punzalan, “and I think what prompted them to ask me to join the Board is my scholarship on digital access and advocacy that encourages relationship building between institutions and communities.”
