Religion in Real Time: Teaching Religion as a Resource at a Public University

This 2025 Proposal Development Grant project addresses the perceived tension between religion and the values of academic freedom and intellectual pluralism on university campuses by exploring innovative pedagogies in religious studies. Drawing on sensory education and approaches that treat religious traditions as dynamic sources of ethical reasoning, philosophical inquiry, and intellectual exchange, our team proposes new models that frame religion not as a problem but as a resource for fostering thoughtful dialogue and academic collaboration. Through collaborative workshops and grant-funded initiatives, the project will develop scalable curricular and extracurricular tools to deepen religious literacy and intergroup engagement across campus communities.
