The Senior Thesis and Honors Program in Communication & Media offers an opportunity for you to pursue independent scholarly research throughout your senior year. To enroll in the program, you must have an academic record that demonstrates your commitment to the study of Communication & Media and the ability to engage in sustained, self-directed work.

You apply to the program during the winter term of your junior year. If accepted, you enroll in a year-long seminar as you conceptualize your study, conduct research, and ultimately write your thesis. Two faculty members—the program’s director and a thesis adviser—mentor you throughout the process.

Participation in the program is the only way to graduate with honors, though having an honors-qualifying GPA is not a prerequisite for acceptance into the program.

Learn more about our program through this website, including the benefits of writing a thesis and how previous thesis students describe their experience. You can even read theses written by our students. Please be sure to review the application requirements before submitting your materials.

Check back in fall 2025 for information on applying for 2026-27
