Detroit River Scholars - Detroit River Story Lab

Registration is now open for Detroit River Scholars, a unique, place-based program for local teens being offered for the second time along the river this summer. Co-sponsored by the City of Detroit, the University of Michigan, and other partners in our Detroit River Education Coalition, Detroit River Scholars is a free, week-long day camp that explores connections, past and present, between the Detroit River and adjoining communities. Daily field trips to riverside parks, museums, and historical sites provide engaging, hands-on learning opportunities focused on the river’s rich environmental and cultural heritage. Highlights include a three-hour tall ship sail and a visit to river-themed research sites on U-M’s Ann Arbor campus. Those who complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion and a Detroit River Scholars t-shirt.

Spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly, so early application is encouraged.
