Detroit: Race, Religion, and Ethnicity in the 20th Century
The students in the class were taken on several tours of Detroit, with a focus on the old Polish, Jewish, and original African American neighborhoods. While on the tours, we visited The Detroit Institute of Arts, the near east side with lunch at the Ivanhoe Café, aka the Polish Yacht Club, and Hamtramck, the west side, and semester end trip in December to the Raven Blues Lounge on Chene Street.
