The Diba and Yoon Labs at the University of Michigan are recruiting a talented scholar for a unique postdoctoral position. The desired candidate will work in the Diba Lab to perform cutting-edge experiments using silicon probe electrodes with integrated µLEDs (optoelectrodes) designed and built in the Yoon lab, to probe hippocampal microcircuits during episodic memory formation, consolidation and recall, in-vivo, with closed-loop interrogation during theta oscillations and sharp-wave ripples. Additionally, the candidate will lead efforts, via the NSF-funded Neuronex MINT (Multimodal Integrated Neural Technologies) Program to disseminate expertise to new users on using the optoelectrodes neurotechnology. The candidate should have solid communication skills, strong quantitative and/or programming skills, experience with unit spike recordings and familiarity with optogenetics.
Salary will be based on the National Research Service Award (NRSA) payscale.
The Diba Lab (Anesthesiology, Michigan Medicine) and Yoon Labs (EECS) are affiliated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Neuroscience Graduate Program at the University of Michigan. Collectively these programs and the University of Michigan at large provide a highly exciting and stimulating scientific environment for computational and systems neuroscience. The city of Ann Arbor is also consistently ranked among the top places in the U.S. to live, with affordable access to cultural events, sports, parks and natural beauty. Applicants should contact Kamran Diba: firstname.lastname@example.org with a detailed C.V. or resume and a description of research background, skills, and interests.
