Two Years Young

We are currently at the beginning of year two in a five-year grant period. Thus far, we have launched our first course: Islam in Africa taught by Rudolph “Butch” Ware at the University of Michigan and shared with the University of Iowa and the University of Minnesota. Two more courses will be taught this coming winter/spring 2016 semester, and by the end of the grant period we will have over a dozen courses available to CIC member institutions.

Here at the University of Michigan, we have been working diligently to ensure that our pilot semester runs smoothly. In recent weeks we have worked to assess and analyze the specific needs of our program, information we have only been able to collect since DISC officially launched this fall. Using this information, we have outlined some major goals for the remainder of the 2015-2016 academic year. These include strengthening our administrative team via the implementation of student internships, streamlining DISC specific problems with CourseShare, and forming a website that adequately represents DISC and all participating universities.
