She holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including a Ford Foundation seed grant for research and collaborative work with institutions of higher learning in Africa. She is the author of six books and numerous articles in professional journals. She has lectured throughout the United States and in Australia, Algeria, Cameroon, Cuba, Canada, England, France, Ivory Coast, Malaysia, Malta, Nigeria Tunisia South Africa, and Singapore, among other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ekotto has developed and taught a wide range of innovative courses on literature and law in France; literature and film in Africa, the Caribbean and Maghreb; postcolonial narratives by Francophone women and minorities; and representations of family and friendship in Francophone film and literature. Her curricular contributions have been critical to the emergence and consolidation of Francophone studies at the University of Michigan and to the teaching of race and ethnicity in the context of French-speaking cultures. Le rayonnement des cultures afrodiasporiques (pour ne citer que celles-l\u00e0) ont de mu<br \/>\nltiples facettes. D\u2019o\u00f9 ma motivation premi\u00e8re\u00a0: en\u00adcourager les uns et les autres \u00e0 examiner ses ramifications.<\/p>\n<p>Dans mon enseignement, j\u2019attire l\u2019attention de mes \u00e9tudiants sur la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de comprendre que les hommes sont des \u00eatres impulsifs. La\u00a0<i>cultio,<\/i>\u00a0d\u00e8s lors \u2014 dans son acception d\u2019\u00e9ducation de l\u2019esprit \u2014, a pour finalit\u00e9 de le contenir. Le paradoxe \u2014 et cela est analytiquement int\u00e9ressant \u2014 vient du fait que l\u2019effort pour l\u2019acqu\u00e9rir ne rend pas meiller pour autant. On a tous souvenir de certaines \u00e9lites \u00ab\u00a0cul\u00adtiv\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0 qui se sont mises au service<br \/>\ndes dictatures. Elles ont quelquefois planifi\u00e9 et ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 des massacres de masses. La culture, qui \u00ab\u00a0<i>n\u2019est pas faite d\u2019un bagage de connaissances, mais d\u2019une certaine mani\u00e8re de penser et d\u2019agir<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb (dixit L. S. Senghor), doit \u00eatre d\u2019abord et avant tout\u00a0<i>\u00ab\u00a0une discipline\u00a0\u00bb<\/i>\u00a0personnelle. Elle n\u2019est pas une position (id\u00e9elle) et une posture (action) \u00e0 conqu\u00e9rir, et dont la vis\u00e9e est po\u00e9tique, au sens de la conservation et de la participation \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation (sp\u00e9\u00adculative ou mat\u00e9rielle). Elle est pour ceux qui sont r\u00e9ellement anim\u00e9s d\u2019huma\u00adnisme, une asc\u00e8se de soi.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Elements of this website are currently under construction.
