This workshop will be comprised of two parts.  In the first, Professor Yu will present his innovative work on analyzing and mapping trans-Pacific Chinese migration to Canada (http://web.stanford.edu/group/spatialhistory/cgi-bin/site/project.php?id=1049).  After the break he will lead a workshop on using a smartphone to do history.

This workshop is for all faculty and graduate students, particularly those with little or no experience with using digital technology for oral history or digital history in general.

1:30-3:15        Hands-on workshop: “Smartphone History: Using Smartphones to Do History”

3:15-4:00        Concluding discussion: What have we learned and what is it good for?
