For those of you interested in Persian mystical literature, the Islamic Books Reading Group will host an informal discussion next Wednesday about the famous Conference of the Birds (Manteq al-tayr) by the twelfth/thirteenth-century sufi poet Farid al-din ‘Attar, led by Cameron Cross (Near Eastern Studies). Participants are asked to read the book before attending, if possible; we will be reading the new translation by Sholeh Wolpé, which is available for purchase at the Literati Bookstore.
