Our sister project at El-Kurru has announced the upcoming release of a children’s book!
The book, Leaving Our Mark: El-Kurru Past, Present and Future, is written for young people who want to learn about local archaeological heritage at the UNESCO World Heritage site at El-Kurru.
As some of you may know, El-Kurru was an important pyramid burial site for Napatan kings and queens from c. 850-650 BCE. The book was written at the request of the community and, reflecting the project’s collaborative approach, the book’s narrative draws strongly on the voices of local residents.
While the text itself is currently in press, a talk by the authors is taking place TODAY – Tuesday 18 February.
For those in the US, this is 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST.
For those in Sudan and elsewhere in Africa, this is 8 PM CAT.
For those in the UK and Europe, this is 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CET.
