On Saturday 17 May, JBAP team members Geoff Emberling, Tohamy Abulgasim and Pawel Wolf will be giving talks at the Sudan Archaeological Research Society’s W. Y. Adams Colloquium, Sudan: Past and Present 2025.
Showing off the team’s expertise not only in the archaeology of Jebel Barkal, but of all Sudan, Tohamy will talk about his work with the University of Cambridge’s Mapping Africa’s Endangered Archaeological Sites and Monuments project, which uses remote sensing in times of conflict, while Pawel will talk about another of his projects which examines the Kushite agro-pastoral settlement of Shaqadud in central Sudan.
We’re proud that Geoff will give the Keynote Lecture, focussing on the results of JBAP’s work at Barkal over the past 7 years: “Jebel Barkal as a Meroitic Urban Center of Kush”.
Happily the SARS organisers have ensured that the colloquium is accessible both in-person and online, so we hope that you’ll be able to join us!
