RNA thermosensors are structured RNA elements located with the 5’ untranslated region of a gene. These RNA structures serve to inhibit (at low temperature) or promote (at elevated temperature) the translation of the downstream gene. Ongoing efforts are directed at understanding the mechanism of this temperature-dependent structural transition.
