Call for Submissions
Khamseen is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative: an online Glossary of terms for the study of Islamic art, architecture, and visual culture. The Glossary will be composed of short 3- to 6-minute multimedia presentations that explain the etymology, origins, and use of a term relating to Islamic art history, providing a wide range of examples across space and time to expand, diversify, and update traditional definitions of terms that we consider central to our scholarly discipline.
Khamseen is currently seeking scholars who hold a PhD to create presentations on specific terms, a preliminary list of which can be found here.
Interested contributors should contact Team Khamseen (teamkhamseen@umich.edu) for further details. While the project is ongoing, we ask that the first round of submissions be sent by August 7th, 2021 so that we can share the initial collection of terms with colleagues in time for the fall semester.
