She studied Cultural Anthropology and Religious Studies in Bologna and T\u00fcbingen, with a focus on the anthropology of religion in the Mediterranean. She conducted field research in \u00dcsk\u00fcdar for several years for her doctoral thesis entitled \u201cAziz Mahmud H\u00fcdayi in Istanbul: Biography of a Place,\u201d published as a German-language <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomos-shop.de\/ergon\/titel\/aziz-mahmud-huedayi-in-istanbul-biographie-eines-ortes-id-110289\/\">book<\/a> in 2022. Her research focuses on the material culture of Sufism in Istanbul, on the historical and contemporary aesthetics of saints\u2019 tombs (<em>t\u00fcrbe<\/em>), and on the portable and textile paraphernalia therein.
