I will trust her again
There is nothing she can do for me to believe that
she is not worthy of my loyalty
I will make it clear to her that
being alone
would be devastatingly worse than
breaking off our friendship forever
I cannot believe I ever thought that
she made me weaker by being in my presence
I’ve come to realize that
“I have always been better off without her”
is a euphemism because
“I survived high school because of her”
A lot of self-reflection has led me to the conclusion that
her criticism of me
defines me—not
my willpower to fight
I can promise you
continuing to live under her reign
is much wiser than
dissolving the ties between us
I know
freedom
is no match for
control
I have faith that
she will always know what’s best for me
I will never believe that
I have the power to cut her out of my life
And I will continue to sink into the shadow of her Majesty unless… I choose to reverse it.
