Welcome!  I am an Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department at the University of Michigan.  My research focuses on the state, autocracy, and regime change in Africa. My forthcoming book, Regime Threats and State Solutions (Cambridge University Press, Studies in Comparative Politics), examines the politicization of the public sector in Kenya. For more on my research, please see my publications and working papers, as well as my cv.

I am on leave for the 2019-2020 academic year at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS)  at Stanford University.
