Erdös Institute Career Development Fall program

The Erdös Institute was founded by number theorist Professor Roman Holowinsky (OSU) as a way to help math PhDs find the careers they love and companies the math PhDs they need. Their career development program (fall cohort) for PhD students and post-docs interested in learning about non-academic careers and/or some of the skills needed for them begins September 1. Graduate students and post-docs can participate at various levels—whether they are merely curious about what kind of jobs are available for their own PhD students someday, or are actively exploring rewarding highly compensated work outside academics for themselves, and something in between!

Many Michigan math graduate students have enjoyed this program, and indeed, last year a team of UM students took first prize in the Erdös Institute data science competition. The best part: because Michigan is an institutional member, all Erdös program seminars, boot camps, career coaching, interview practice and more are free to Michigan math graduate students, post-docs, and alumni.

Please sign up before September 1 by following the link here. For a more personal story about the affect of Erdos programming, you can read Yuxin Wang‘s (UM PhD 2021) or Yiweng Chen’s (UM PhD 2022) account, or check out more stories and further resources here.
