Special Issue on Painlevé Equations and Applications in Memory of Andrei Kapaev

The Guest Editors for this special issue are

Percy Deift (New York University, USA)
Boris Dubrovin (SISSA, Italy)
Tamara Grava (University of Bristol, UK and SISSA, Italy)
Alexander Its (Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, USA)
Peter Miller (University of Michigan, USA)

Topics for this special issue will include:

* discrete and continuous Painlevé equations;

* Riemann–Hilbert and isomonodromic methods;

* Bäcklund transformations and other direct methods;

* particular solutions and their properties;

* asymptotic analysis of solutions and solution families;

* applications of Painlevé equations in pure and applied mathematics;

* computational methods for Painlevé equations.

This issue is partly related to the workshop on Painlevé Equations and Applications held at the University of Michigan, August 25–29, 2017. It also serves to honor the memory of Andrei Kapaev, who made many important contributions to the field and who passed away unexpectedly while still very young and active.

Workshop participants and others whose work is concerned with the above topics are invited to submit papers to the special issue. For this issue, both original research articles and review papers are welcome.

There are no paper length limits to the submitted works. Deadline for the submission is March 31, 2018.

Travel Information:

Airport

DTW – Detroit Metropolitan Airport, located about 30 minutes from Ann Arbor

Airport shuttle transportation

It is not necessary to book transportation from the airport to the hotel in advance. Upon arrival, proceed to the ground transportation center where you can find MetroCars and MetroCabs that can take you to the hotel. The cost should be about $60-80. Please keep your receipts for reimbursement.  If you prefer to book transportation in advance, or if you wish to arrange transportation from the hotel to the airport, we suggest the following:

Ann Arbor Metro Airport Shuttle: 734.507.9220
Amazing Blue Taxi: 734.276.6696
Metrocars: 734.277.6554

There is also a shared-ride option which is substantially cheaper: the Michigan Flyer (http://www.michiganflyer.com) offers comfortable and reliable transportation including free bottled water and WiFi.  The bus picks you up at the airport and the first stop is the Blake Transit Center in downtown Ann Arbor.  From there you can get to the Bell Tower Hotel by taxi or a 10-15 minute walk.
