Media Bank has hundreds of high-resolution images and video from the U-M Hospitals, Health Centers, Medical School, research labs and more – including aerial building photos and faculty/leaders. If you have images that you want to share with others in the Health System, contact us. If you have questions about the proper use of any image, contact us.
Important note: All rights to all images in this database belong to UMHS or one of its units. All available images may be used for any official UMHS or U-M business. Images may be shared with the news media and external organizations. Non-U-M users may use these images for non-commercial purposes through a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license but must display the following credit with each image: “Courtesy University of Michigan, available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 license.“
How Media Bank works
1. SEARCH or BROWSE the catalogs: General, Events, Aerials, Buildings, People or Video.
2.Type a word into the Search box. All images in the database with that word in the metadata will load.
3.Click on the image or the name of the image to select it. The image loads. Download the image by clicking the down arrow at the bottom right corner of the player – the black box surrounding the image. Save the image to your computer.

Who can use Media Bank?
Anyone with the URL can access Media Bank. The media are free for use for any Health System business.
What if my department wants to add images to Media Bank for other Health System units to share but these images have restricted usage rights?
Images can be added to a private catalog that only you and others that you select can view and download. Email Christy Barnes to ask about creating a private catalog. If your department would like to create their own media database contact MiVideo.
Do I have to pay to use an image or video?
The media are free for use by anyone for Health System business. Anyone outside the University may request to use an image. Email Christy Barnes.
