Initiative on Ending Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Harassment
This initiative is composed of an interdisciplinary group of scholars across the University of Michigan. This group coalesced in 2017 out of a desire to better understand the enduring problem of gender-based violence. They received support from Rackham Graduate School to bring together researchers, activists, students, and community-based organizations by hosting a national conference focused on ending gender-based violence.
The group was highly motivated by the conference and sought to extend the interdisciplinary learning and the connections made. They partnered with the University of Michigan’s Institute for Research on Women and Gender to reach this goal and became the Initiative on Ending Gender Based Violence and Sexual Harassment.
Moving forward, the Initiative will continue to promote interdisciplinary engagement with a particular focus on work that encourages practitioner-scholar collaboration.
