Boozhoo/Hello!

Welcome to the Native Students’ Stories website at the University of Michigan—a space created by the community, for the community. This website is a living archive of memories, photographs, histories, and events shared by Native American community at UM. It serves as a reflection of our experiences, our resilience, and our contributions to campus life, both past and present.

The Native American Student Association (NASA) has been at the heart of this community since its founding in 1972. More than just a student organization, NASA is a home—a place where Native students, alumni, and members of the surrounding Native community come together to celebrate culture, foster belonging, and advocate for meaningful change. Through cultural gatherings, social events, and educational initiatives, NASA continues to build a supportive and thriving Native presence at UM.

Whether you are a current student, an alum, or a friend of the community, we invite you to explore, contribute, and connect. This website is a testament to our shared stories, our voices, and our future.  We welcome you to be part of it. Miigwech / Thank you for being here.

A group photo featuring a diverse collection of individuals posing in front of a large rock painted with vibrant orange, blue, and white patterns, including a feather and abstract swirls. The participants, some seated and others crouching, appear cheerful and proud of their collaborative artwork. The backdrop includes dark foliage, suggesting an evening setting with a sense of community and creativity.

NASA cultivates a vibrant community for Native students on campus, as well as for those interested in Native American, First Nations, and Indigenous political issues, cultural traditions, and language revitalization. We host multiple events each semester and invite you to join us!
