Along with former group member Mike Hren, GRITS has a new paper out in The Depositional Record on Mesoproterozoic CO2 levels based upon the carbon isotope composition of stromatolites from the 1.1 Ga old Copper Harbor Conglomerate from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The key result is that microbialite-derived results closely match paleosol-based results and affirm a late Mesoproterozoic version of the “faint young Sun” problem.
