Rachel Lockwood Miller

Rachel is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan in the Department of American Culture. She is an interdisciplinary  U.S. historian specializing in labor and cultural history, and has also taught and published on Environmental and Public History.

She is completing a dissertation on the transformation of the entertainment industry in the long nineteenth-century, titled “Capital Entertainment: Stage Work and the Origins of the Creative Economy, 1830 – 1920,” which you can read more about here.  

Rachel is the current President of the Graduate Employees’ Organization, AFT 3550, and will forever be from Maine.
