RC writing student Zofia Ferki wins First Year Writing Prize

RC creative writing student Zofia Ferki is one of two winners of the Matt Kelley/Granader Family Award for Excellence in First Year Writing, awarded by the Sweetland Center for Writing and the English Department Writing Program. Her paper, “As Time Ticks By,” was written for RC 100, a First Year Seminar, and was nominated by her instructor, Leslie Stainton. (The other First Year Writing prize awardee was also a student in Stainton’s class.)  Zofia will receive $1,000 and her paper will appear in the forthcoming volume collecting winning documents from this and other Sweetland/English writing prizes this year. Previous volumes are viewable at the Sweetland website, and paper copies can be purchased at Amazon. Zofia and others will be honored at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 18, at 10 am in 2435 North Quad.
