In pairs, students will discuss the cover page of Mocha Celis’ historieta (comic book) to learn more about the context in Argentina. Through this materials, students will discuss issues such as indigenous rights, gender identity, and access to education for trans communities in Argentina.

Students will learn some vocabulary before reading the zine by the bachillerato popular travesti-trans, Mocha Celis.

Students will watch an interview with Lohana Berkins, a prominent trans activist and advocate for the gender identity law. Lohana was friends with Mocha Celis. She appears prominently in the historieta.

Students will use some of the grammar from chapter 7 (“if clauses”, pp. 220-221) to talk about the “El teje” project and use the vocabulary included in activity 2.
Description
Students will use the vocabulary from activity 2 and the reading of the Mocha Celis’s historieta to reflect on their journal entry.
