Rory Bowens is a graduate student working towards a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Michigan. Rory is working alongside his mentor, Dr. Michael Meyer, to develop and use infrared detectors for high contrast imaging. Through the use of adaptive optics, it will
be possible for ground based mid-infrared detectors to outperform future space missions such as JWST in the high contrast limit. Rory is using the MITTEN cryostat in order to test detectors in development. He is also gaining experience in analyzing future performance of detectors and reducing the data produced by the detectors.
