I am devoted to country dance: English Country Dance, Scottish Country Dance, and American contra. I’m a member of the organizations that support these: The Country Dance and Song Society, and The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Country dance requires all the teamwork of sports, but it’s not competitive (or it shouldn’t be)—the better I dance, the more fun it should be for everybody. I am rarely as happy as when somebody thanks me for being a good partner. I urge everybody to try it.
