Field and Solaire’s article, The current state of methods for establishing reliability in qualitative chemistry education research articles, is now available in Chemistry Education Research and Practice. In this manuscript, they review how researchers in CER establish reliability for qualitative studies. They describe the approaches for establishing reliability and analyze prior CER articles for how they report evidence of reliability. Their findings indicate how CER can move forward as a field when it comes to establishing and presenting reliability evidence in qualitative studies. The appendix also includes a primer for the considerations researchers should take when reporting reliability, which can be a useful resource for new CER researchers.
