The UM Sustainable Food System Initiative, Transformative Food System (TFS) Fellows welcomed USDA Deputy Under Secretary Stacy Dean, to speak on her career path from a UM student at the Ford School of Public Policy to working inside the federal government to advance President Biden’s agenda to improve nutrition assistance for struggling families and individuals.
This fireside chat, titled “Leveraging the USDA to tackle nutrition insecurity and systemic racism in the food system”, was facilitated by TFS Fellows on Friday, April 19th, 3-4:30pm. The event took place at the Ford School for Public Policy, Walter and Leonore Annenberg Auditorium (Room 1120). The event was open to the public and was supported by faculty and students of the Ford School of Public Policy, the School for Public Health, the School for Environment and Sustainability, and Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
