Sustainability Specialist
Sustainability Specialist Clara Gamalski is a U-M graduate and received a M.A. in Food Studies from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She has more than five years of experience working in education and engagement work around sustainable and equitable food systems at higher education institutions. Most recently, Clara managed a food justice program at the University of Detroit Mercy focused on leadership development and community-engaged learning. Prior to that, she worked at Conflict Kitchen, a food and arts initiative at Carnegie Mellon University. Clara represents the institutional food sector on the Detroit Food Policy Council and participated in a year-long fellowship with the Detroit Equity Action Lab, a project of Wayne State University’s Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights. She is active in a number of food and environmental justice initiatives in Southeastern Michigan, including the Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit and Make Food Not Waste.
