150. Abduction, torture, and interrogation of village elder

SUMMARY: Russian forces abducted a village leader the head of the village of Zmiivka. During his detainment, he spent two days being tortured with electricity and was not allowed to sleep, eat, drink, or use a toilet. The Witness believes he was held in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Beryslav District, and later held in a garage in the yard of the SBU administration in Nova Kakhovka. He was released on May 22, 2022, but then arrested and “interrogated” in Zmiivka on several more occasions. After the village was liberated on November 12, 2022, the Russian military continued to bombard it heavily.

The Witness of the incident was an elderly, male civilian and head of the village of Zmiivka.
VICTIMS
The Victims of the incident, in addition to the Witness mentioned above, included a Ukrainian soldier, police officer, ATO participant, lecturer, and town hall employee.
