187. Detention, forced cooperation

SUMMARY: In April 2022, the Witness, a local school administrator, was forced to resign and turn over school documents and equipment to individuals collaborating with Russian forces. He was then detained by Russian forces on April 30 after his home was searched. He was held in the Kakhovka police department, where he was interrogated about his work as an educator and beaten until his release on May 14. He was detained again in early September 2022 and held in the same police station for another 25 days, during which he was forced to do menial labor and vote in favor of the referendum for the Kherson region to become Russian Federation territory.
