SUMMARY: A doctor in the regional intensive care hospital in the city of Mariupol describes the occupation of the hospital by Russian forces on March 12, 2022. The Russians gathered all the patients and doctors into one room and strip-searched them. The patients had to drink non-potable water and were not provided food. It was forbidden to leave the premises. The doctors had to ask permission from the Russians to provide treatment to patients who were brought in. The Russians placed military equipment in the hospital yard and shelled the city and Ukrainian military positions from the hospital. The Witness saw Russian soldiers fire at three civilian cars trying to drive into the hospital. Other doctors also saw the attack on the civilian cars.

The perpetrators were members of the Russian military who varied in rank and wore green uniforms with white bandages on their hands and feet. The Witness noted that one of the soldiers was of Caucasian nationality and in his mid-40s.
